Well, I remember once I was gonna make one of those spanish tortillas, with potato inside. WEll I had the recepie down perfectly, except that I didn't know you had to cook the potatos before making them in the tortilla. So it looked wonderful, but when we all sat down to try it, crunch! uncooked potatos! I still can't live it down haha. Another time a friend of mine was gonna make picadillo, which is ground meat, and they thought they were supposed to wash the meat. So they're just standing there gobsmakked as all the meat washes down the drain!
One time, when I first was living on my own, about seven years ago, I wasn't a great cook. I was cooking a piece of meat in the frying pan and I was running late. I had ran out of oil so i thought ah, I'll use butter. Big mistake! It got horribly burnt. Another time, I was cooking a rice thing in the microwave and it caught on fire! Also, I made a pot of coffee once and was really really tired. I was pouring it into the mug and the damn coffee was going all over the place! I started cursing at the cheap coffee pot but then realized that I was holding my coffee cup upside down! It was so funny and so embbarrassing!
O my god1! Hope that coffee didn't burn you. I had a fairly gross experience with a pan of soup I was heating on the hob. It wasn't getting hot very quickly and I'd stood there for ages with it, so I turned the knob round which controls the front righthand ring where my saucepan was. Well, a few minutes later, I still had cold soup on the top and this burnt sort of skin on the bottom. Down the drain it had to go. It was the left-over soup mum had made the day before as well, but she forgave me. Maybe I'll just pour some in a bowl and stick it in the microwave next time to heat it through!
